Jardim de São Lázaro
Green Space
Opened at the end of the Liberal Wars in 1834, the São Lázaro Garden is the first municipal garden in the city of Porto.
This garden is in romantic style, where the bandstand, the majestic lindens and the old marble fountain stand out, which belonged to the extinct Convent of St. Dominic.
Today it is the only garden in the city that is still surrounded by a railing with four gates.
In the vicinity of the garden are the Monastery of Santo António, now the Municipal Public Library of Porto, the Faculty of Fine Arts, and Baroque façade of the former convent of São Lázaro, attributed to Nicolau Nasoni.
