"She Changes" - Anémona

She Changes, or Anémona, as it is popularly known, is a sculpture of the American Janet Echelman, located near the sea in the roundabout of the Praça Cidade S. Salvador, in Matosinhos.

Constituted by a steel ring of 20 tons and 42 meters in diameter, and one of the masts with 57 meters in height, this sculpture is dedicated to the fishermen of Matosinhos.

Its shape, a gigantic fishing net, aims to demonstrate the importance of fishing and fishing industry to the city of Matosinhos. The three support poles are painted to resemble the region's chimneys and lighthouses.
